Received a penalty order for theft
A penalty order for theft (§ 242 StGB) – for example after shoplifting – usually imposes a fine. You can object within two weeks (§ 410 StPO); until then the matter can often still be resolved.
Low-value items and discontinuation
For items of low value (§ 248a StGB) and first offenders, a discontinuation under §§ 153, 153a StPO is possible. The number of daily units and a possible entry in the certificate of good conduct are also worth examining.
