Psychosocial court assistance under § 406g StPO offers particularly burdened victims support before, during and after the trial – in addition to legal representation.

What court assistance provides

Court assistance informs you about the procedure, is at your side during interviews and at trial and helps to reduce the burden. It does not provide legal advice – that remains the task of the legal counsel.

Entitlement to assignment

Particularly vulnerable victims – for example in cases of serious sexual or violent offences – are assigned psychosocial court assistance on application; it is then free of charge for those affected.

Interplay with legal representation

We coordinate legal representation with court assistance so that you are supported in the best possible way, both legally and personally.

Would you like support during the criminal proceedings? Contact us in confidence.

Note: This information is general and does not replace advice in an individual case.
